Custom Cabinetry in Kigali
Custom cabinetry in Kigali from Crafters Furniture and Interior Design means kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, bathroom vanities and storage walls that are designed, built and installed to the exact size of your room. Everything is made in our own workshop at Gacuriro 55, KG 375 St, Kigali, Rwanda.

Who custom cabinetry is for
Built-in cabinetry suits anyone who wants storage that fits the room instead of a room arranged around standard boxes. Homeowners finishing a new house use it to make every wall work. Landlords and property developers use it to give apartments a consistent, durable fit-out. Offices, clinics and shops use it for reception counters, filing walls and display units that match the rest of the interior.
It is especially useful in awkward spaces: sloping ceilings, alcoves beside a chimney breast, the gap under a staircase, or a kitchen where the window and the water point are not where a catalogue unit expects them to be.
What we build
Our cabinetry work covers every room where things need a home. Each type has its own detailed page where it is a core service:
- Fitted kitchens and pantry units — see our page on kitchen cabinets in Kigali.
- Built-in and sliding wardrobes, and walk-in dressing rooms — see custom wardrobes in Kigali.
- TV units and media walls with concealed cable routes and ventilated equipment shelves.
- Bathroom vanities with moisture-resistant carcasses and space for the basin and plumbing.
- Storage walls, shoe cabinets, study desks, bookshelves and under-stair storage.
How design, build and install works
The process starts with a conversation, usually on WhatsApp, where you share photos, measurements and the look you want. We then confirm the exact dimensions, agree the layout and prepare drawings that show door styles, internal shelving, drawers and finishes.
Once you approve the drawings and materials, the cabinetry is cut, edge-banded and assembled in our Kigali workshop, where we can check fit and finish before anything reaches your home. Our own team then delivers and installs: levelling the carcasses, scribing panels to uneven walls, hanging and adjusting doors and fitting handles, so the result looks built-in rather than placed.
Materials and finishes
Most of our cabinetry is built in 18mm MDF, which machines cleanly and stays stable. Fronts can be finished in melamine, high-gloss acrylic or spray lacquer, and solid timber is available where you prefer a natural grain. Our board range includes wood-grain tones such as light natural oak, natural pine, dark walnut and rich espresso, as well as solid colours like white, silver, Morandi gray, iron gray and black.
Hardware is chosen deliberately: soft-close hinges, full-extension drawer runners and adjustable legs, so doors close quietly and drawers open fully for years.
How to measure your space
You do not need to be precise to start a conversation, but good numbers make the first drawing much closer to the final piece. Use a metal tape, measure in centimetres and write each figure on a simple sketch of the room.
- Wall lengths, measured at floor level and again at about 1 metre high, because walls are rarely perfectly straight.
- Ceiling height in at least two places.
- Positions of windows, doors, sockets, switches, pipes and the main water or gas points.
- Skirting height and any beams, columns or boxed-in pipes.
- Doorways, corridors and stair widths the finished piece has to pass through.
What to prepare before you request a quote
A quote for cabinetry is only as accurate as the information behind it. Before you message us, gather the following so we can respond with useful questions instead of guesses:
- Your rough measurements and a sketch, or simply photos of the room taken from each corner.
- Two or three reference images of styles you like, from Instagram, Pinterest or our portfolio.
- Your preferred colours and finishes, even if you are undecided.
- How the space is used day to day and by whom.
- Your location in Kigali or elsewhere in Rwanda, so we can plan delivery and installation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between custom cabinetry and ready-made units?
Custom cabinetry is designed and built to the exact measurements of your room, so it uses the full wall height and width and works around windows, pipes and sockets. Ready-made units come in fixed sizes and usually leave gaps or wasted space.
Which rooms can you build cabinetry for?
Kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, studies, hallways and commercial spaces such as offices, clinics and shops. Common pieces include fitted kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, vanities, shoe cabinets and storage walls.
What materials do you use for cabinets?
Mainly 18mm MDF with melamine, high-gloss acrylic or spray-lacquer finishes, and solid timber on request, combined with soft-close hinges and full-extension runners.
Do you install the cabinetry yourselves?
Yes. Our own team delivers and installs every piece we build, including levelling, scribing to the walls and adjusting doors and drawers.
Can I choose my own colours and finishes?
Yes. You can choose from our range of wood-grain and solid-colour boards, and we can advise on finishes that suit your light and the rest of the room.
How do I get a quote for custom cabinetry?
Send us photos of the room, rough measurements and a few reference images on WhatsApp at +250 781 850 395, or use the contact form. We will reply with questions and next steps.
Do you build cabinetry for offices and shops?
Yes. We build reception counters, filing and storage walls, display units and kitchenettes for commercial spaces as part of our commercial interior work.
