Wardrobe and Storage Design

Fitted wardrobes are built floor-to-ceiling to the wall dimensions of the room, with sliding or hinged doors, mirrored fronts, internal drawer banks, shoe racks, trouser rails and LED strip lighting. Walk-in dressing rooms are laid out around hanging heights of 1.1m for short hanging and 1.6m for long, so storage is planned rather than left over.
Wardrobe types
The right type depends on the room size and how much clearance there is in front of the wardrobe:
- Sliding-door wardrobes for bedrooms where door swing space is limited.
- Hinged-door wardrobes for full access to every section.
- Mirror-front wardrobes that make a room feel larger.
- Open closet systems and walk-in dressing rooms.
- Built-in wardrobes fitted into alcoves and under sloping ceilings.
Planning the interior
A wardrobe is only as useful as its layout. We plan short and long hanging, shelves, drawers, shoe storage and space for bags and suitcases around what you actually own. Count roughly how many shirts, dresses, suits and pairs of shoes need a place, and we will size each section to suit.
Internal LED lighting, trouser rails and soft-close drawers can be added to make everyday use easier.
Finishes
Doors and carcasses are built in 18mm MDF with melamine wood-grain or solid-colour finishes, high-gloss acrylic or lacquer, with mirrored panels where wanted. For kitchens and other storage, see kitchen cabinets and custom cabinetry.
How to measure your space
You do not need to be precise to start a conversation, but good numbers make the first drawing much closer to the final piece. Use a metal tape, measure in centimetres and write each figure on a simple sketch of the room.
- Wall lengths, measured at floor level and again at about 1 metre high, because walls are rarely perfectly straight.
- Ceiling height in at least two places.
- Positions of windows, doors, sockets, switches, pipes and the main water or gas points.
- Skirting height and any beams, columns or boxed-in pipes.
- Doorways, corridors and stair widths the finished piece has to pass through.
What to prepare before you request a quote
A quote for a fitted wardrobe is only as accurate as the information behind it. Before you message us, gather the following so we can respond with useful questions instead of guesses:
- Your rough measurements and a sketch, or simply photos of the room taken from each corner.
- Two or three reference images of styles you like, from Instagram, Pinterest or our portfolio.
- Your preferred colours and finishes, even if you are undecided.
- How the space is used day to day and by whom.
- Your location in Kigali or elsewhere in Rwanda, so we can plan delivery and installation.
