Custom Furniture Manufacturing in Kigali

Crafters Furniture and Interior Design manufactures furniture in its own Kigali workshop rather than importing it. Clients bring a room measurement, a photograph or a sketch, and we produce technical drawings, agree materials and build the piece to the exact dimensions of the space.

The workshop handles the full production chain in-house: joinery, cabinetry, sofa upholstery, marble and stone tops, metalwork, kitchen manufacturing, wardrobe systems, ceiling design and office partitioning. Because we manufacture locally we control quality at every stage and adjust dimensions, materials and finishes to fit your space exactly — something imported furniture cannot do.

Typical production runs include 3-seater sofas at 2.1m, dining tables from 1.6m to 2.4m in solid oak or walnut with 40mm tops, bed frames in queen (1.5m x 2m) and king (1.8m x 2m), TV units, shelving, reception counters and restaurant seating. Lead time for a single piece is usually 2–4 weeks; a full house is scheduled after a site visit.

Our interior design service covers the whole project: measured survey, space planning, lighting layout, colour and material selection, 3D visualisation, procurement and on-site supervision until handover. We work on apartments and villas in Gacuriro, Nyarutarama, Kibagabaga and Kicukiro, as well as offices and hospitality projects across Kigali.

Design and build are handled by the same team, so drawings translate directly into joinery from our own workshop — which keeps dimensions, finishes and delivery dates under one point of responsibility.

Custom MDF Cabinetry and Fitting

We fabricate and fit cabinetry in 18mm MDF with melamine, high-gloss acrylic or spray-lacquer finishes, and in solid timber where the client prefers it. This covers fitted kitchens, pantry units, bathroom vanities, TV walls, study desks, shop displays and reception counters.

Fittings are specified rather than improvised: soft-close hinges, full-extension runners, adjustable legs, edge-banded panels and quartz or granite worktops. Kitchens are templated on site before cutting so the final install sits flush against real walls.

Upholstery and Custom Sofa Manufacturing

Every sofa is built on a kiln-dried hardwood frame with webbing or sinuous springs and high-density foam, then covered in the client's chosen fabric — velvet, boucle, linen, chenille or genuine leather. L-shape, curved, modular and Chesterfield configurations are all made to order.

We also re-upholster existing furniture: frame repair, new foam, new webbing and a full recover, which is often the more economical route for well-built older pieces.

Commercial Interior Design in Kigali

For offices, hotels, restaurants, clinics and retail spaces we deliver the complete interior: partitioning, workstations, reception desks, banquette seating, gypsum and wooden ceilings, cabinetry, lighting and branded finishes. Work is phased so occupied premises can keep operating during the fit-out.

Wardrobe and Storage Design

Fitted wardrobes are built floor-to-ceiling to the wall dimensions of the room, with sliding or hinged doors, mirrored fronts, internal drawer banks, shoe racks, trouser rails and LED strip lighting. Walk-in dressing rooms are laid out around hanging heights of 1.1m for short hanging and 1.6m for long, so storage is planned rather than left over.
